The doors slide silently open
and I step into a dream of white magic
Hidden in the light
here in Restaurant Time Bend
I can see creatures sit in large couches
behind glass pipes and bubbles
where they make conversation as if they were people from another century
I walk through the room
across the white marble floor
and take a seat in front of the stage
where I can see the whole restaurant
It's reflected like a wishing well of colours
in a thousand variations under the blue crystal ceiling
and everywhere I see creatures from different worlds
Together or alone
in whatever environment that suits them best
On velvet pillows
In mud-filled holes
under glass domes of liquid plasma
And I am struck by the fact that not two are alike
No matter how much time they spent together they will always be separated
kept apart by habits and evolution
We are all alone
And alone for all
here at the edge of the Universe
where party-dressed individuals relax in their individuality
So as the waiter pass
I nod towards the mirror and say
"I'll have the same as her"
before I lean back as the lights are dimmed
and the stage curtains are pulled aside
The show can begin
