A Small Adult
You stand in the doorway and stare out at the world
at the greyish car tracks who, like endless snakes,
wind through the melting snow of early February
So sure of yourself
and what You want
You are kept in Your naive belief that Life is kind
and with dreams and ambitions to reach the ultimate peak
The sun shines like a white disc through the pale grey clouds
and no wind stirs
to disturb the icy cold
and melt the frozen face of spring
Two jumps and You move down the stairs
down to the pavement
and begin Your long journey out of my life
With pride You wait for Your beginning
In another time You turn around
and show me with shining eyes
a drawing of the human shape
